Friends call us SHUC for short.
Shaughnessy Heights United Church is a congregation of The United Church of Canada.
You’ll find us gathering for worship on Sunday mornings and Tuesday evenings. We embrace excellent music, challenging sermons that connect faith with life and stimulating educational programs for all ages. You’ll also find that we strive to express our beliefs through year-round community building initiatives.
We celebrate two sacraments – baptism and communion.
Baptism is available for infants, children and adults. Communion, also known as ‘the Lord’s Supper’ or Eucharist, is open to all who seek to observe the way of Jesus through the Communion meal of bread and wine.
We are called to intentional ministry.
Examples of our community-building activities are:
- First United Mission support
- Aboriginal Reconciliation
- Annual Hazelton Connection
- Camp Spirit Summer Program
- Young Adults Group
- Faith and Food
- Wise Women
- Men and Muffins
- SHUC Sanctuary Choir
- Pastoral Care Home Visits
- Seniors Lunch
We also hold fundraising events including: an annual Fall Fair, Poinsettia Lunch, Robbie Burns Dinner and a Spring Fling.
The way of Jesus gifts us with wisdom and hope.
As we explore traditions and new experiences in Christian life and spirituality, we welcome you to connect with us through membership, or to join with us in a less formal way.
A warm welcome awaits you.
Our church is at 1550 W. 33rd Ave. in Vancouver less than one block west of Granville Street. The #10 bus stops at Granville and 33rd and there is convenient street parking in the neighbourhood.
