Sunday Worship: “The Flight of the Hummingbird” by the Vancouver Opera

Legendary Dukdukdiya’s (Hummingbird) message is “I do what I can.” A number of SHUCIANS “did what they could” to make the Friday January 24th Hummingbird Ministries’ fundraising event a success – wrapping 25 baskets of goodies for the silent auction, baking cookies, welcoming, serving refreshments, setting up and taking down in the hall, and bidding on auction items. Rev. Mary Fontaine, Hummingbird Ministries’ founder (Ministry through Healing Circles & Performing Arts) sent a huge thank you for our generous hospitality and is super grateful that the event raised almost $2000.00 in support of the arts programs and reconciliation matters.
On February 9th we’ll hear from Dukdukdiya in the opera “Flight of the Hummingbird.” You can learn about this on the video clips below: the first being a Vancouver Opera workshop, and the second being an animated story.

The opera is based on the book Flight of the Hummingbird: A Parable for the Environment by Michael Nicoll Yahgulanaas (Haida Author).
